THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM IS THE KEY TO YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, tissues, and organs that play a crucial role in the body's immune system. It is responsible for removing excess fluid, waste products, and foreign substances from the body's tissues. The lymphatic system is also involved in the production and transportation of white blood cells, which are essential for fighting off infections and diseases.
One of the main functions of the lymphatic system is to help keep fluid levels in the body in balance. When blood circulates through the body, it loses some of its fluid, which can build up in the tissues and cause swelling. The lymphatic system works to remove this excess fluid and return it to the bloodstream. This is accomplished through a series of vessels that carry lymph, a clear fluid that is similar to blood plasma, throughout the body. These vessels have one-way valves that prevent the lymph from flowing backwards and help to push it along.
We continue to re-iterate the importance of gut health. One of the not so well known facts is that we have a substantial portion of the lymphatic system located in the stomach/abdomen area. And immunity is in the gut! The lymphatic system plays a vital role in the body's immune system. It is home to a variety of immune cells, including lymphocytes and macrophages, which help to identify and destroy harmful pathogens, such as bacteria and viruses. Additionally, the lymphatic system is involved in the production of white blood cells, which are necessary for fighting off infections and diseases. This means that if your lymphatic system is clogged up or not functioning well (for whatever reason), your immunity could be at risk.
The dead cells of the body, and foreign substances, such as bacteria and toxins, from the body's tissues are pushed out by the lymphatic system too! This is accomplished through a series of lymph nodes that are located throughout the body, including in the armpits, groin, and neck. These nodes contain immune cells that help to identify and destroy harmful pathogens, as well as filter out waste products and foreign substances. When you notice the lymph nodes swollen this is generally an indication. that the body is fighting off some form of challenge.
Your lymph and blood fluid are the two major fluids of the body. What makes the lymphatic system more challenging to maintain at an optimal level is our lifestyle. The lymphatic system does not have its' own pump such as the blood (via the circulatory system). Which means, that the lymph is moved throughout the body when we are active. We serve as the pump to the immune system.
Some of the best ways to active the lymphatic system is through:
Exercising, Sitting in the sauna or steam room, Brushing your body, Performing head stands, Breath work (see Wim Hof breathing), lymphatic cleansing herbs, Daily controlled sun exposure, Citrus fruit and more.
Some of the Best Herbs for the Lymphatic System:
